Discovery of Historic Stones on Jl. TB Simatupang will be Researched Further

Historians and archaeologists will further investigate the historic stone found on Jl. TB Simatupang, RT 07/01, Gedong Urban Village, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, on Thursday (10/28). The object, which is thought to be a sugarcane milling stone in 17th century, is temporarily stored in Condet Cultural Conservation.

East Jakarta Secretary Assistant for Public Welfare, Ahmad Salahudin said, if the research result proves that the object is historical stone from 17th century, it will be proposed to the governor to make a decree (SK) on archaeological or historical objects.

"For the time being, the stone is stored in Condet Cultural Conservation. Later, it will be examined further by involving experts to prove whether the object is a sugar cane milling stone 1,700 years ago or not," he mentioned.

Moreover, he continued, this stone will also be checked in laboratory to optimize the research thus the results will not be doubted.

"Laboratory research should be also carried out to ensure its validity," he stated.
